HĀNM - where modest fashion meets environmental and social consciousness.
Made from high-quality, natural materials, each hijab is a testament in our commitment to sustainability. We prioritise using natural fibers, such as sustainably sourced cotton, as well as silk or bamboo, which are not only gentle on the environment but also offer unparalleled comfort and softness against your skin.
We believe sustainability goes hand in hand with ethics. Both need to be present. For us, using natural fibers of quality are just as important as our workers wellbeing and fair wages. Many workers that have known poverty all their lives, are commonly exploited and used for cheap labour. This is prominent in fast fashion practices and something HĀNM is strongly against.
As a brand, we always ensure the factories we work alongside, treat workers well. We request evidence for their working environments and find out the opportunities they are offered. The factories we work with in India and China meet our requirements. At our factories based in India, for example, they offer women in nearby villages opportunities of work and a chance to showcase their skills.
With sustainability at the core of our ethos, we take great care throughout our production process to minimise waste, whilst also taking care of our dyeing processes. We use azo-free dyes (dyes that are free from toxic chemicals). This is not only healthier for our customers wellbeing, but it is also better for the surrounding environments where our production takes place.
We ensure not to waste off-cuts of our fabrics too - for us, everything counts. To minimise waste, we use the remainder of our hijab fabrics to create the bandanas in our Ana Bedouin sets. We aim to create as little waste as possible, using our resources as efficiently as possible.
As a brand, we strive to produce hijabs that are not only visually beautiful but also have a positive social and environmental impact.
